
Abitibi River Forest Management Inc. is a cooperative of forest industries, ranging from small independent logging operators to large forest products producers. On behalf of these partners, Abitibi River Forest Management Inc. is responsible for the sustainable forest management of the Abitibi River Forest.
The Abitibi River Forest is an approximately 36,000 square kilometer forest land base that extends westward from the Ontario/Quebec border for 180 kilometers to just west of Smooth Rock Falls, and spans 285 kilometers north-south from 60 kilometers south of Timmins northward to the junction of the Abitibi and Little Abitibi Rivers. The Abitibi River Forest will be officially created as of April 1, 2010, and is made up of the former management units known as the Smooth Rock Falls Forest, the Cochrane-Moose River Forest, the Iroquois Falls Forest, and the Nighthawk Forest.
